What Journey Behind the Falls is
Journey Behind the Falls is on the Canadian side, at Table Rock Centre next to the Horseshoe Falls. An elevator takes you about 125 feet down. From there, tunnels lead to portals behind the falling water and to an outdoor platform at the base of the falls.
The visit is self-guided and takes about an hour. It is partly accessible. Strollers are not allowed, so plan how to carry small children. Dress for spray near the water.

Planning your visit
Timing, season and what changes the experience.
Open all year
The attraction is open every day of the year. Daily hours change with the season, so check the hours for your date. The outdoor platform is not guaranteed to be open all year, because ice can close it in winter. Check the current status before you go.
Best time to visit โPlans for new platforms
A new covered and heated platform is planned for spring 2027 and another for spring 2028. They are not part of a 2026 visit. The attraction is meant to stay open during the works. Check the opening dates if your trip falls near them.
Where it is
Table Rock Centre sits at the Horseshoe Falls. The Niagara City Cruises dock is farther down the river at the main ticket plaza. A boat ticket does not include Journey, and a Journey ticket does not include a boat.

Dress for the weather and for spray near the water. Strollers are not allowed, and the visit is only partly accessible, so check the access details if anyone in your group has limited mobility.
Falls Pass options in the 2026 season
Journey is part of several multi-attraction passes valid from 20 April to 1 November 2026.
| Pass | Price | Includes |
|---|---|---|
| Classic | CAD 89 | Journey (day and night), White Water Walk, Butterfly Conservatory |
| Plus | CAD 109 | Journey, Niagara Takes Flight, White Water Walk, Whirlpool Aero Car, Power Station |
| Premium | CAD 129 | Adds the Conservatory, the Floral Showhouse and historic sites |
The passes include the WEGO bus and the Falls Incline Railway, valid for at least 2 days, or 3 days for Premium. Boat tickets are not part of the passes. Niagara Takes Flight opened on 29 August 2025 and is a flying theater, not a helicopter flight. For most visitors who plan two days on the Canadian side, a pass is worth comparing with single tickets. Add up only the attractions you really plan to visit.
Journey or a boat ride?
Both take you close to the Horseshoe Falls, in different ways.
| Journey Behind the Falls | Boat ride | |
|---|---|---|
| View | Tunnels, portals and a platform beside the falls | The base of the Horseshoe Falls from the water |
| Time | About 60 minutes, self-guided | About 20 minutes, poncho included |
| Price 2026 | CAD 28 to 33 for ages 13 and up | From CAD 47.95 for adults on the Canadian boat, USD 30.25 on the US boat |
| Season | Open all year, check the platform in winter | The US boat sails from 24 April to 8 November 2026 |
For most first-time visitors on the Canadian side, Journey is the lower-cost way to stand next to the falls, and the boat is the closer one. If your time allows only one, choose the boat in the warm season and Journey in the cold months.
Other ways to get close
Journey, the boat and Cave of the Winds do different things.
